Decisions, decisions...

Debating whether to get a 16 GB iPod touch or nothing. I have an 8 GB nano so I'm not desperate for a new iPod, but I would love the convenience of being able to access my email and the Internet when I'm near a WiFi signal. The nano was also a birthday gift so it isn't like I spent my own money on it...

I would be getting the refurbished iPod touch from the Apple store. I'm always nervous when it comes to refurbished electronics, but it's a nice discount! Down from $299 to $219, and shipping is free. I read that the refurbished products are simply returns from customers within their 30-day return period. They're also tested and given new software. Sounds safe?

I think I'll stop by an Apple store tomorrow to play with iPods.

Any iPod touch owners who want to sing their praises? Leave a comment. :)

  2. Generally refurbished/reconditioned items are a smart bet if you do enough research on the company. Apple, fortunately, makes good on their warranties. I have a 3rd gen nano whose screen went a little screwy. I had purchased it used from a friend. It was still under warranty so I emailed Apple. They sent a box for shipping and I got a refurbished nano in about a week. It's been almost two years and it still works great. Look into how long the itouch will be under warranty (usually around 30 days) and if need be get the extended plan.

  3. I think I'm gonna do it! :)

Thankfully the refurbished touch is under warranty for a full year after the purchase date (Apple Care gives me another year after that, but it's $60...) This is for mechanical problems not caused by me, of course, but I'm assuming I will treat my touch well :)
